Spring Pole

You can buy spring poles or make them your self. All a spring consists of is a rope toy, spring(s), mounting bracket or long rope, and some minor hardware.

The spring pole is great for releasing energy and building muscle. The work out sessions do not need to be long. Only 20-30 minutes twice a day will tire out the average dog while giving them an excellent work out.

Here are some pics of are dogs on one of are spring poles. Please use caution if more than one dog is using the spring pole at a time. This is an easy way to have a fight brake out!

Chauser and Maizey play together on the spring pole daily and are very use to each other. However they still get in arguments!

 Weight Pulling

Weight pulling is the perfect sport for bullies, they were built for it. Most people make the mistake of training their dogs at to young of an age. Weight pulling should not begin until your dog reaches maturity (between 18-24 months). If weight pulling is started before your dog is mature and fully grown you can cause serious injury or even deformity. A young dog's bones cannot take the strain. You can start getting your dog use to a harness at any age, just do not add weights.

Once your dog has reached maturity if he or she has a high drive and is willing to please you could have an excellent pulling dog, with proper training.

For competition information and/or dates check your local kennel club or bully organization.

 Water Games

A lot of bullies enjoy swimming. Some bullies are even entered in dock jumping competitions. They excel at water games, even beating out the labrador. My dogs are not big jumpers but they do love to fetch a ball from the water.

If you dont live near a pond or lake a simple garden hose can provide enless fun for your dog. My female maizey is crazy for the hose. She jumps, runs, and spins after the water stream. It tires her out fast and keeps her cool on hot days.

However since I got Maizey so into the water hose, I cannot even pick up the hose to move it without her trying to bit it and go crazy.

 Laser Chase

This may seem a bit silly but I found that my dogs LOVE chasing a laser pen. They run from one end of the house to the other. As soon as they hear the chain the laser pen is on they go wild! After a 10-15 minute chase they are tired out. My male Chauser will jump up the walls to get it. I can make my dogs do anything for the red dot. It is very comical to watch!

My dogs are easily entertained, not all dogs will enjoy a laser pen. But if yours does it is a great way to exercise your dogs with any effort on your end.
